Tampa Bay Tagged for Hard Knocks because of Jameis Winston?

It was announced earlier today that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play host to the hit HBO series Hard Knocks. This is the first time Tampa Bay will be featured on the show since its first season in 2001.

For those not familiar with the show, Hard Knocks showcases the events of one NFL team every season. From Draft Day to the final cuts, everything is captured by HBO. The show selects a team based on many factors. Who has the best off-season storyline? Is this team ready to make a run for the Super Bowl? Is there an entertaining player for fans to watch? It looks as though for this season, the later question is the answer to why the Bucs were picked.

Enter Jameis Winston. The third-year quarterback out of Florida State and former number one pick has been very vocal in every facet of the game. When on the field, Winston is a general. He has engineered comebacks and created many noteworthy plays with both his arm and his legs. On the sideline, Jameis can be seen trying to amp his team up. On the kickoff, you'll even see him talking to the defense.

Many Florida State fans will remember Jameis Winston for a touchdown pass to win the 2013 BCS Championship in Pasadena. Many other remember him for the off field issues.

Since his initial start in September 2013, Winston has been under the microscope of fans and NFL executives. In college, Winston faced rape allegations from a former Florida State student. These charges were eventually dropped due to lack of evidence. In April of 2014, Winston was seen walking out of a Tallahassee Publix with a pound of crab legs without paying for them. During the 2014 season, the now Heisman winner was suspended for a game for shouting a profane statement in the Oglesby Union at Florida State. The statement was that of a meme that was popularized at the time saying "f*ck her right in the p*ssy." Having a player who was charged with rape yelling this to a crowd was not the smartest act on Winston's part.

Many executives were cautious to look at Winston before the 2015 NFL Draft and instead drafting Oregon quarterback and Heisman winner, Marcus Mariota. The mild-mannered Duck and 2015 Heisman winner was coming off a stellar season and a trip to the inaugural College Football Playoff Championship. Tampa Bay pulled the trigger on Winston at first overall in the 2015 NFL Draft and it looks to have paid off so far.

Winston is not just an NFL quarterback, he's a personality. Many teams have a guy that is very vocal about everything. Dez Bryant, Richard Sherman, Odell Beckham Jr., and JJ Watt are some names that come to mind when talking about these kinds of players. What makes Jameis different? He's the quarterback.

Winston and Carolina Panther Cam Newton are two of the most outspoken people in the league, but people rally around Winston. At the beginning of the 2016 College Football season, Winston was attending the Camping Bowl Classic where the Florida State Seminoles were playing the Ole Miss Rebels. At halftime, the Seminoles were down 28-13 after a last minute touchdown catch by Travis Rudolph. The team had been playing terribly in every facet for the majority of the night. Winston went into the locker room with head coach Jimbo Fisher and gave the now famous "we not puppies! We some dogs!" speech to the players.

The second half of the game was entirely different. The Seminoles outscored the Rebels 32-6 and forced four turnovers. Winston loves the players and he loves the game.

Winston looks like the perfect candidate for Hard Knocks. Whether he is doing something good or bad, people listen. Hard Knocks will premiere on HBO sometime this August.
